Some of you might find this interesting, so I thought I'd share. They started in June 2009 and it will take 20 years to complete (no power tools, etc.).
Apparently there's also one being built in France, and that project started in 1997 and will run for a total of 25 years: http://www.guedelon.fr/. I'm not entirely sure if they're the same group or just associated.
