Yeah i was looking at sennheiser but they're pretty expensive/ awkward looking.
I had a pair of Platronics Gamercom and they were bulky as fuck. I looked like a goddamn fighter pilot. Also my mic would bug out once in a while. Anyone remember the huge BEEEP sound when i tried to queue up in vent? Yeaaah, I'd ideally like to avoid all that, but it seems like almost all serious gamer headsets are big bulky motherfuckers.

I have to disagree... I've had a pair of these for about 6 years now. Think I paid a twenty-spot for em back then.

They are extremely light weight, flexible (read: won't break if you torque them a little taking them off or putting them on), and the cord is long enough I could walk like 8 feet away from the computer. 8 feet was far enough to walk to my TV and mini-fridge in my freshman dorm room 3.5 years ago and anywhere in my apartment bedroom these days. They even come with a few different ear pieces so you can use the one that is most comfortable for you. I also like having one ear uncovered by the headphones. They are USB, which makes them much more configurable with my audio drivers and Vent than headphones which plug into one of the blue/pink/green jacks.

Mine didn't come with that button/switch thing though that's in the picture on the website I linked above. Also, some of the newer models don't have the same cord length and other features. As recently as 2 years ago I saw the model I bought way back when in some smaller game shops though, so you can probably still get it somewhere.

The only two improvements I'd suggest are moving the headband thing so that it goes around the back of your head instead of on top and making them wireless...just because everything is wireless these days, though it would likely jack up the price too much for my taste.

IDK, maybe it's because I'm a cheap college student saving money for grad school, but those got the job done perfectly well enough for me. Some of the 'gaming microphones' are super bulky or at least twice as expensive.
Sit vis vobiscum.
May the dp/dt be with you.

If you can afford to splurge, Razer Barracuda's. About $105. Amazingly good, USB powered w/ analog plugs. 5.1 Surround sound. They have godly audio quality.

I can't recommend any, but I can say my Creative Fatality headset started to break like a month after I had it for no reason. The left ear phone just started to stop playing, along with the mic only working like 20% of the time and making bad noises any other time I attempted to use it.
