One other comment on the Caps-Rangers series regarding special teams:

Caps PP in series: 25% (Regular season: 25%)
Caps PK in series: 87% (Regular season: 81%)

NYR PP in series: 13% (Regular season: 14%)
NYR PK in series: 75% (Regular season: 88%)

The media hyped up the whole Caps PP vs. the NYRs PK, and as I showed in bold above, the Caps are winning that battle handily. They've kept up the pace of their PP against the #1 PK team in the league. The unstoppable force of the Caps' PP is steamrolling the immovable object that is the Ranger's PK. And to add insult to injury, we've knocked that poor NYR PP down even further -a whole percentage point!

Oh, and let's go Flyers! (I can't believe I just said that!) Wear down those Pens. I'm expecting Carolina to come back against NJ and Varlamov to lead the Caps to 4 straight wins, so it'll be Bruins vs. Canes and Caps vs. Pens in Round 2.

Ugh, 1st and 2nd were painful to watch but they came out hard in the 3rd. You are not gonna win a game 7 when you're out shot 13-1 in the 3rd period!

Ovie is a beast, and if Varlamov develops a little more the Caps will be a contender year in and year out. Seeing Ovie and Sid battle back and forth was truly awesome. Glad the pens pulled this one out but this rivalry is far from over these two teams will be battling for years to come.

Sid definitely proved how effective he can be in front of the net. And that playstyle is so deadly and important in the playoffs.

The Boston/Carolina game tonight was a thrill ride, and I'm looking forward to the conference finals. My only hope is that the Cup finals isn't Penguins/Red Wings, only because I'd find it boring as a repeat of last year, not that either team isn't good enough or whatever else. If that did happen though, it'd be a chance for redemption or revenge for the Penguins.

I'm glad to see Gonchar get a cup, he's always been one of my favorite defensemen, ever since he played for the Caps.
