I know I saw a post before about this, but I couldn't find it.
For starters, I don't want people to go crazy about this, because it's just my curiosity. People tend to over-act sometimes when new games are brought up.
I've been reading a lot about Vanguard lately, and from what I can tell, a lot about the game has been mis-represented. It's not going to be that uber-hardcore game everyone seems to think it is....actually, it seems that it's going for a different route altogether.
From what I've read, there seems to be a lot of good ideas and creativity coming out. The head designer is actually the guy who created EQOA, as well as having a hand in EQ1.
The devs are all over the forums, talking about alot of stuff I have yet to see any other MMO discuss openly.
I'm just curious to see if there is any slight interest in it at all. If so, you may want to register on their forums, because it seems beta invites are being handed out based on who signed up on the forums, and the earlier you signed up the better.
Like I said, it's not a doomsday post. I'm just curious if anyone else had an eye on it at all.

Even if I stop playing MMOs, my interest in them and how they work will probably never fade. I've been a video game junkie since I was 5 years old..I highly doubt that I'll rid my system of it.
From what I can see, V:SoH looks like it could end up being what EQ2 was meant to be. Alot of the stuff I've read though seems like great ideas.
For instance, the world will not have instances. So there will be the added feel of seeing other people. However, they've stated that there will be content specific to your group...like, you kill a mob that drops a certain item. From that point on, mobs will spawn that will only react to your group, based on the item that was dropped before. Other groups won't be able to interact with these mobs in combat.
Or supposedly guilds will be able to construct real towns. How they'll do this I have no idea, but I guess each town can have merchants and such based on the tradeskills of people in the guild...and revenue will be generated specific to the town for the guild.
Also, I guess classes will have certain traits or spells like perception available that will give bonuses to the group based on success or not. Like scouting, detect magic, etc. Also, there will be interaction between moves...like, a warrior knocks a mob down, which triggers a rogues ability to perform a skill like a chest stab. So combat will be more interactive, which seems cool if done right.

Yea, Vanguard will totally be the death of EQ2. Seeing as how EQLive was a hit and with support from Microsoft and the community, alot of work and ideas are being used. Also, wont need a super duper machine like EQ2. Sorta like mid-end systems.
And I've been registered on their forums since 2004 and no beta invite D:
