My biggest group of friends
Hey buddies, yall are my biggest group of friends out there. I got a question to ask all of you. Id say 90% of the people in the guild like me so maybe ya can help me out.
I need a job, i have enough money for 1 more month of rent before i gotta take some shit job at a grocery store. I have a large portfolio, a good education and i'm very attractive. What i lack right now i suppose is connections. In my field which is advertising i don't know anyone who works at an agency. Or even an in house marketing department.
I'm reaching out to the largest group of people i know for some sort of connection. Odds are with the 300 people in the guild across the entire country and in some others that someone knows someone in an agency. I will move anywhere i will do anything, i can barrow money to fly for interviews and i'll sleep in the subway or something till i make money.
I have a resume working on my online portfolio, should be done sometime this week if i can stop looking at porn for an hour to work on it. I'm a writer mostly but i've taken 3 years of art classes where i kicked ass, award winning painter and sold multiple works. I have basic knowledge of pretty much any graphics program out there. I would do something outside of advertising but i would need it to be in a creative department. Maybe write for a magazine or whatever i'll give anything a shot.
One more thing for some incentive, soon as i get a job and move out of my moms house i'm back playing WoW full time and well all know how good i am. Plus with 2 months of not playing id probably even do 5 mans.
Person who helps me out here i'll tank anything they want anytime they want. Remember i'll move anywhere even Canada. I know i could find a job on my own with some time but i really don't have the time. I don't wanna do an unpaid internship for a year to get some experience either. But if its a paid internship and i can sleep on your couch for a year i'm all for it.
Talk to me on aim at Mistergreen83 if you know anything that could help, or just post here. If you don't have aim my e-mail is advertisingmatt@yahoo.com
I'm thankful for your help already.

If you are currently unemployed is there a reason that you are lacking enough time to apply for jobs?
A good friend of mine got a degree in marketing. She works at circuit city right now. She told me that getting into marketing is hard because a lot of people get the degree but there aren't a lot of openings available. You also might not make a lot of money starting out, kind of like a pseudo-internship. The thing you have to realize with a marketing/advertising application is that you are really marketing yourself when you apply. So show some of that creativity. Show them your resume on an etcha-sketch. Build a toy that has your job history on it. Idk, something weird they would never expect. They won't notice a white sheet of paper like something creative.
I would recommend starting at Monster.com and searching for a job with a large search area. Some of my friends had great success doing that.
I would also recommend you look into getting graphics design jobs. I've heard that doing artwork for websites can be more lucrative than advertising. Maybe thats not what you wanna do, but you could check that.

I've created my portfolio and resume in a book, little 5x7 well designed book. So far i've sent it to 5 places but at 10 bucks a piece to print i'm taking it slow with those things. I know finding a job in pretty much any field is hard right out of college i just know i'm good so i can't bring myself to go into wal-mart and work for 5.50 and hour on something that doesn't use my talents. I was 3 inches away from getting a full time job at an ad agency 3 months before i even graduated, i should have dropped out and taken it.Cyren wrote:If you are currently unemployed is there a reason that you are lacking enough time to apply for jobs?

Well if anybody comes up with a connection i'm still all ears. I had a teacher in school who was the youngest VP of marketing at Proctor and Gamble ever and she gets paid 10,000 dollars to speak at marketing conferences. Problem is shes not great at remembering people so that e-mail i sent her might not ring any bells. Well i got some poles in the water.

Well I'm one of three finalists for a job. So i got a decent chance of having a job by the end of next week. Still looking for something closer related to my field. This is writing for a magazine but at least its writing. Oh and the job is based in Vancouver CA. Hope they pay in USD
Still in the market for a job though, so keep lookin.
