Hockey

Post by Rokrayne »

Ok, I hate to admit it, but our local paper has it's hockey picks for our conference this year, and it goes as follows:
#1 San Jose Sharks
#2 Colorado
#3 Anaheim
#4 Minnesota Wild
none the less, it's the only Minnesota pro team worth a crap, and I am excited for the season. I have quite a few pairs of tickets on my possession, and one set is for March 19th against San Jose!

Rokrayne
Whoever says Paper beats Rok is an idiot. Next time I see someone say that I will throw a rok at them while they hold up a sheet of paper........

damn straight SJ at number 1 im not going to get to see to many of there games down here in SD but i still believe in them, and i would order something to get their games but a)im broke as shit and b) i have no idea how. but i would believe that line up, i watched the ducks game today against the red wings, they got crapped on in shoot outs, not really, but they shoulda done much better than they did.

those picks are ok but a little wack. how the hell isnt Detroit in the top 4 of the west? theyre are easily top 4 in the nhl. should be something like

top 3 really can be interchangable..

(1-3) san jose, anaheim, detroit

colorado wont be in there until 1, they solidify their goaltending situation. 2, joe sakic convinces a certain swedish player to return there. Probably wont happen since its looking like Detroit so far is the only team in half serious talks with foresberg.

Minnesota is and was a good team last year. they were sort of a team that wasnt expecting to go far last year but if they did, nobody would have been surprised.

The east on the other had is all over the place outside of Ottawa.

ill say its gonna be an Ottawa vs (detroit, san jose) final this year with the winner comming from the west. this changes if the ducks get the bearded wonder and Selanne back...

it scares me to think im only not choosing ottawa to win because i hate them. they better not....

fuck you (yes this directed to you wasted) lol

I'm excited for Washington's season. We should be much better this year, Jurcina will bring us some much needed improvement at the blue line, and Nylander brings some experience to an otherwise young (though extremely talented) offense.

Plus, the Southeast Division is awful, so hopefully we'll finish with a decent record.

As a side note, the new jerseys with the old school Capitals style are hawt.

the capitals are easily one of the best new jerseys in the league, if not the best. they look way better than they did when they used to be those jerseys the first time around... sounds weird but im sure kordo knows what i mean. on a side note. ive played against steve eminger a few times growing up.

Yeah I agree completely, I used to think the old style was too plain but the update makes it so much better looking.

i used to like the canucks because i like the sedine twins and luongo, but after seeing them play terribly against the sharks last night, i'll say there going to be a pretty shitty team this year, they really didnt bring much to the ice. The sharks have huge potential this year, more than last, but there are a few players thus far that have been hott players in the previous seasons that arent shining like there usual selves. If it proceeds that way, then the sharks wont be great. Nabbys his usual self, being hott and cold. he saves when were either already loosing by a lot or winning by a lot, when its a close game, he's where he needs to be. We are playing good though all around, need to get situated with the lines i think, still juggling them around, i know its still early but there arent like HUGE additions to the team so the lines should get glued and then become solid, juggling them around wont get u much of anywhere because of players not coolaberating well with eachother. Thornton and cheech arent playing like there usual selves so far, nothing famublous from them, Marleau isnt playing too well, hes been solid, but not on his A game like usual. Defense is tits except for our fucking terrible bloop against boston the other night, if ur not sure ill refresh ur memories with a clip at the bottom. All and all if the sharks play like they are now, they will just make it to the PO's and flop, but if they start playing better like i forsee, then they will possibly go all the way.

thats my 2 cents on the sharks. oh btw i think i got 2 front row glass tickets for a game this year. wtfffff sick. for 0 dollars mwahahaha.

Tickets up close are hot, the closest I've sat is the second row from the glass, I've never been in the first row :?

It's definitely an experience sitting up close, but in terms of watching the game I'd rather be about 20 rows higher.

And did the puck hit the ref or take a funky bounce off the glass when Boston scored with 12 seconds left? It looks like the Sharks' defensemen was trying to send it around to the forward on the boards, but it didn't get there. Either that or the Boston player blocked it or poke-checked it away. I hate missing details like this when I watch highlights on the internet.

you have no idea what expensive ticket prices are until you try and go to a leaf game. put it this way... in buffalo one game i was 5 rows up from the glass, that seat was 150 bucks cheaper than the second highest section at the ACC

QFFT jeeesssus it took them long enough to do it, they need to keep that shit up and there defense is making some slopppyyyyy mistakes this year; but there still going all the way so fuck all other teams. Sharks have yet to live up to their full potential this year but i can feel it they will start kicking ass and taking names soon. luckily the whole pacific division sucks balls and sharks are staying near the top of their division. 3rd in their conference at the moment too but i honestly believe they could be first

anyone else watch the red wings vs. st. louis blues game? kinda impressive imo

setoguchi has always been good. hes played on canadian national teams all the way up from the under 16, under 17 and under 18. just wasnt ever able to crack the world junior teams. scoring touch is scoring touch no matter what lvl it is and if he can stand up to the physical play of the nhl he'll be a good one.

My Leafs are UNBEATABLE!

Wait ...

Actually they're pretty beatable ...

Hmmmph ...

Fine .. they suck. I know it. You know it. I don't care if they're on a "streak" .. Hell I WANT them to fail now! Bottom out and get some draft picks and rebuild!

And yes ACC tickets are unbelievably overpriced. I'm fortunate to have wealthy friends who use Daddy's corporate tickets when clients aren't in town being entertained. I sit amongst the suits and am like the only one there for the start of the period (you'll notice the entire lower ACC bowl empty at period starts cuz the suits are still being corporate whores and don't care about the game). It's pathetic seeing all those empty seats at a perpetually sold-out arena =(

At least your team doesn't have the worst record in the league ::stomps foot::

/comfort!

Yeah but .. the saddest part is that if the Leafs had the worst record in the league ... the ACC would still be an impossible corporate shithole and the management wouldn't change a thing.

OK, I can't let that blasphame continue Explicit...

Detriot vs. Ottowa in the finals?!

Detriot is going to do what it does every year. It's going to get out to a strong start; win the president's cup; get home ice advantage. And it's going to get slapped down in the first round.

As to Detriot getting Foresberg, haven't they learned that buying used up talent isn't bringing the cup home?

The Western Conferance will be won by either the Wild or the Avalanche (or the Ducks if they can stay healthy). You can point to records, streaks, numbers, w/e. But at the end of the day, there are winners and losers. Look at the rosters. The Avalanche and the Wild are stacked with young talent and players that are winners. Detriot is just a streaky team. They do well in the regular season, but when it's time to dig in and fight, they aren't winners. That's why they get beat in first round almost every year.

As to Vancouver, they have some talented players, but let's be honest, they have under achieved ever since they went thug and broke Steve Moore's neck.

-Z

PS. Holy Cow Duc...the Flyers...w/e meds they have you on...ask for more, that must be some good stuff!
